United States
Northwest green pea harvest is completed. Some are reporting lower yields while others say they are on budget. However with a shortage in the Midwest and in Europe we can expect green pea prices to be rising as demand for green peas is falling on Northwest processors. Sweet corn harvest began in most of the Northwest the week of July 22nd with the season expected to be good this year. Early variety potatoes are also coming out of the ground and yields are being reported as usual for this time of year. Even with cooler spring weather and rain which resulted in a 1 to 2 week late start with all plantings it seems the crops in the Northwest to date are fairing well. Unlike the Midwest area and Europe, the weather conditions in Washington State and Oregon State are cooperating to give us good yields and nice quality vegetables.
Northwest berries are doing okay to date. Raspberries are wraping up with lower yields due to a cold winter and freeze. Blueberries are slowly beginning and the crop outlook to date looks good.
Weather in the Midwest area has not been ideal with much rain and various storms in spring and early summer. Plantings on all crops there have been slow and delayed . The green pea harvest is showing signs of stress from the excess rain. Sweet corn is also under stress from rain and then excessive heat. Plants are short and uneven. Expect yields on both peas and sweet corn to be reduced.
Michigan
Cherry harvest in Michigan is underway. Due to cooler weather the start of the season is about 10 days delayed. High domestic demand and lower worldwide production will result in higher prices for sweet cherries.
Mexico
Mexico still seems to be struggling with production of broccoli and cauliflower. Cauliflower especially is in tight supply with some saying it is due to the explosive popularity of rice cauliflower. While we have been optimistic, it is still not a perfect situation for processors in Mexico. The months of February and March brought in less than budgeted packs, with much going to fresh market. With the start of July the official rainy season has commenced and the situation will be touch and go until peak season arrives in October/November.
Guatemala
Peak Broccoli season has now commenced. Harvest has been ramping up and yields and quality are good.
Costa Rica
Currently it is low season for pineapple. In addition weather conditions and high demand for fresh market has caused a lower volume going to the freezers there.
Europe
Another severe heat wave and drought gripped Europe in late July which has devastated crops across the continent. Temperatures as high as 108 degrees F (the highest ever recorded) in France,Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands will no doubt have effect on crops in those countries. Green Peas have been affected drastically and we expect to hear about yield reductions in potato and sweet corn as well. In Belgium were only about 3% of the potato land is irrigated we expect potatoes to be in a tight supply situation once again this year.

Serbia
Raspberry crop is 70% to 80% reduced due to poor weather (snow, hail and rain) and also some of the crop has been hit with disease.
Thailand
Reported by Foodnews, Thailand’s raw material supply for can sweet corn is expected to be reduced by 20% – 30% due to the drought effects of the El Nino phenomenon. Pineapple will also suffer lost yields.
China
Zhejiang Province
Edamame and Mukimame harvest now compelted. Eggplant season is now underway. Season for sugar snap peas was excellent this season and prices are currently very competitive
Fujian Province
Bamboo shoots will start harvest this month. Okra and Lychee season also now underway.
Shandong Province
Asparagus season coming to a close with good supply and low prices. Edamame is ongoing through middle September.

北西部のグリーンピースは収穫が終わりました。収穫量は少なめから予算どおりといったところです。ただし、中西部とヨーロッパで作物が不足していることから、北西部の加工業者に需要が集中し、グリーンピースの価格は上がると見られます。スイートコーンの収穫は、北西部では7月22日の週に始まりました。今年は良いシーズンになると期待されています。ジャガイモは早生品種が収穫されていて、この時期としては例年並みの収穫量とのことです。春は雨がちで涼しかったため、すべての植え付けが1～2週間遅れとなりましたが、北西部の生育状況は今のところ上々です。中西部やヨーロッパと異なり、ワシントン州とオレゴン州は天候に恵まれていて、良質な野菜が十分に収穫されています。
北西部のベリー類は、これまでのところまずまずです。ラズベリーは終わろうとしていて、冬の寒さと凍結の影響で収穫が少なめです。ブルーベリーは徐々に始まりつつあり、これまでのところ良好です。
中西部では天候が理想的とは言えず、春から初夏にかけて雨が多く、さまざまな荒天に見舞われました。すべての作物の植え付けが遅々として進まない状況です。グリーンピースの収穫には、多雨の影響が見られます。スイートコーンも、雨に続く猛暑で影響を受けています。植物の丈が短く、バラつきがある状況です。グリーンピースもスイートコーンも、収穫量は減るでしょう。
ミシガン州
ミシガン州でチェリーが収穫されています。シーズン初めが涼しかったため、10日ほどの遅れです。国内需要が好調な一方で生産量は世界的に下がっているため、スイートチェリーは値上がりするでしょう。
メキシコ
メキシコは、なおもブロッコリーとカリフラワーの生産で苦戦しているようです。特にカリフラワーは供給が不足していて、ライスカリフラワーの爆発的な人気が理由だという声もあります。私たちは楽観していますが、メキシコの加工業者にとっては理想的とは言えない状況が続いています。2月、3月は予算を満たさない収穫量で、そのほとんどが生鮮市場に回りました。7月の開始とともに正式に雨期となりましたので、10月、11月に最盛期が訪れるまでは、不安定な状況が続くでしょう。
グアテマラ
ブロッコリーが最盛期に入っています。収穫量が増えつつあり、質・量ともに良好です。
コスタリカ
パイナップルは、今は少なめの時期です。天候に加えて生鮮市場からの需要があるため、冷凍用の作物が減っています。
ヨーロッパ
ヨーロッパは7月末、またも酷暑と雨不足に見舞われ、大陸全域の作物に打撃をもたらしました。フランス、ベルギー、ドイツ、オランダで気温が42℃を超え（史上最高記録）、これらの国の作物に影響が及ぶことは間違いありません。グリーンピースには大きな被害が出ました。ジャガイモとスイートコーンも、収穫減の報告がそのうち入ってくるでしょう。ベルギーでは、用水が十分にあるジャガイモ畑がわずか3%とされていますから、今年もまた供給が逼迫すると見られます。
ヨーロッパ産のグリーンピース、トウモロコシ、ジャガイモは、いずれも価格が上がるでしょう。
セルビア
ラズベリーの収穫が70～80%減となっています。悪天候（雪、雹、雨）に見舞われたうえ、一部では疫病の被害が出ました。
タイ
Foodnewsによると、タイ産の缶詰用スイートコーンの原材料が20～30%減になると予想されています。エルニーニョによる雨不足の影響です。パイナップルも、収穫量が減るでしょう。
中国
浙江省
エダマメとムキマメの収穫は終了しました。今はナスのシーズンです。今シーズンのスナップエンドウは上出来でした。現在の価格は非常に競争力があります。
福建省
タケノコは今月から収穫開始です。オクラとライチも生産されています。
山東省
アスパラガスのシーズンが終わりに近付いています。量は十分にあり、価格も低めです。エダマメは9月半ばまで続きます。
