China
Temperatures are rising and spring has commenced with heavy rain which has hurt some of the crops.
Shandong Province
Asparagus harvest will begin this month and to date outlook is good with nice quality and good yields.
Spinach production is also underway.
Zhejiang Province
Broccoli harvest is winding down. Higher price for raw material, along with increased labor and packaging cost has led to price increases this season. Yields were lower than expected.
Cauliflower processing is completed. Quality is stable however yields were disappointing and prices have increased.
Pea pods and sugar snap peas are planted and the harvest is expected to begin in April. To date the growth condition looks very good. Planting areas increased compared to last year. New season will commence at the end of this month, however some Zhejiang factories have started to process product using raw material from Yunnan province and Guizhou province. There is mention of increased prices this season due to exchange rates, packaging and labor costs.
Fujian Province
Mushroom production has finished and quality is reported as good. Some factories in Fujian province are processing sugar snap peas from Yunnan province whose raw material is mostly used for the fresh market. Prices will be higher than last season.
United States
Frozen fruit stocks in the U.S.A. are low. Both blueberries and cherries are at lower levels than the past year, while strawberries and raspberries show small increases compared to last year at this same time.
Raw material potatoes for processing in the Colombia Basin and Idaho are limited. Processors may be pulling raw material from Canada, however the high cost and limited truck availability could make this difficult. Some processor may have no other choice but to drastically drawn down finished product inventories in order to meet shipments.
Plantings are underway and potato harvesting could begin as early as July 5th if the weather cooperates. If climatic conditions delay harvest we suspect that potato shipments in July will be delayed.
Northwest green pea plantings are still underway and harvest expected to begin in June.
Limited inventory of sweet corn will increase prices this upcoming season. Sweet corn harvest is expected to begin in July.
Mexico
Coming off one of the worst years in history for processors of frozen broccoli and cauliflower, the situation is starting to look up. Conditions in Mexico have improved and inventories of both broccoli and cauliflower are being replenished. Quality and yields are good, however prices will increase for all new contracts.
Guatemala
Broccoli season is now complete in Guatemala. Sugar snap peas season was favorable this year with ample volume available.
Europe
Numbers out from the North – Western European Potato Growers show harvest figures for 2017 potatoes at an increase of 17.2% compared to last season. The high production has depressed pricing. Due to adverse weather conditions the quality of the potatoes was not ideal with a high percent of low solids. This may result in lower yields which could help draw down raw material inventory.

米国では冷凍果物の在庫が低下しています。ブルーベリーとチェリーはいずれも、昨年よりも低いレベルにあります。一方、イチゴとラズベリーは、昨年の同時期よりわずかに高めです。
コロンビア盆地とアイダホ州のジャガイモの加工用原材料は限られています。加工業者はカナダから原材料を入手するかもしれませんが、コストが高く、輸送用トラックにも限りがあるため、それも難しい可能性があります。一部の加工業者では、受注分を出荷するため、完成品の在庫レベルを著しく減らすよりほかに選択肢がないかもしれません。
ジャガイモの植え付けは始まっていて、天候次第で早ければ7月5日には収穫を開始できるでしょう。天候に恵まれず収穫が遅れれば、7月の出荷も遅れると思われます。北西部のグリーンピースは今も植え付けが行われていて、収穫は6月に開始の見通しです。
スイートコーン
は在庫が少ないため、今シーズンは価格が上がるでしょう。スイートコーンの収穫は7月に開始予定です。
メキシコ
冷凍のブロッコリーとカリフラワーの加工業者にとって、昨年は史上最悪に近い一年でしたが、状況が好転し始めました。ブロッコリー、カリフラワーともに状況が改善して、在庫が増えつつあります。質・量ともに良好ですが、新規契約分の価格は上がるでしょう。
グアテマラ
グアテマラのブロッコリーのシーズンは終了しました。スナップエンドウは、今年は良いシーズンとなりました。十分に量があります。
ヨーロッパ
ヨーロッパ北西部ジャガイモ生産者協会の調べによると、2017年のジャガイモの収穫量は前シーズンと比べて17.2%増でした。この収穫増により、価格は下がりました。天候に恵まれなかったため、ジャガイモの品質は良いとは言えず、固体比重の低い作物が多くなっています。この結果、加工用原材料としての量は少なくなり、原材料在庫を引き下げる可能性があります。
中国
気温が上昇しています。春の訪れとともに大雨が降り、一部の作物に被害をもたらしました。
山東省
アスパラガスの収穫が今月から始まります。これまでのところ良い見通しで、質も量も良好です。
ホウレンソウも生産が進められています。
浙江省
ブロッコリーの収穫は終わりつつあります。原材料価格が上がっているうえ、人件費と梱包資材費も上がっているため、今シーズンの価格は上昇しています。生産量が予想を下回りました。
カリフラワーは加工が終了しました。品質は安定していますが、収穫量が期待外れに終わり、価格が上がりました。
エンドウマメとスナップエンドウは、植え付けが終わり、4月には収穫が始まる見通しです。これまでのところ、生育状況は非常に良好です。作付面積は昨年よりも増えています。新しいシーズンは今月末に始まるでしょう。ただし、浙江省の一部の工場では、雲南省と貴州省から入ってくる原材料の加工を開始しています。今シーズンは、為替相場や梱包資材費と人件費を理由とした値上がりの話は聞こえてきていません。
福建省：
マッシュルームの生産が終わり、品質は良好と伝えられています。福建省の一部の工場では、雲南省からのスナップエンドウを加工しています。雲南省からの原材料は、ほとんどが生鮮市場向けです。価格は昨シーズンよりも高くなるでしょう。
